DEFINITION
A packing list describes the physical content of a shipment, package by package: what each box or pallet contains, the quantities, the gross and net weights, the dimensions and the marks on the packages.
The forwarder uses it to book space and prepare the transport documents, customs to check the goods against the invoice, and the receiving warehouse to count what arrived. For electronics, a packing list that also lists serial numbers or IMEIs per box makes receiving and later returns much easier.
The packing list has no prices of its own. It must agree with the commercial invoice: a difference in quantities is a classic reason for goods to be held at customs or disputed on arrival.
HOW KOLIBRA HELPS
Each deal in Kolibra has a place for its packing list in the logistics documents, next to the CMR and the invoice, and the Batch Uploader recognises a packing list and files it on the right deal.
