    WEEE and EPR Registration

ALSO KNOWN AS · Extended producer responsibility, WEEE registration, ElektroG, DEEE

    DEFINITION

The EU WEEE Directive makes the producers of electrical and electronic equipment responsible for collecting and recycling it. This is extended producer responsibility (EPR). Each country runs its own register.

"Producer" is wider than manufacturer: it includes the business that first places a product on that country's market, such as an importer bringing it in from outside the EU, or a seller shipping directly to end users in another country. The producer registers in each country concerned, reports the quantities it puts on the market by category, and finances collection, usually through a compliance scheme.

Obligations and registration numbers differ by country: Germany's register is run by stiftung ear, for example. Selling business-to-business inside the EU does not always make you the producer, but importing or selling to consumers often does.

    HOW KOLIBRA HELPS

Kolibra keeps the product, brand and quantities of every sale with the customer's country, which is what WEEE quantity reports are built from. Registration and reporting are done with each country's register or your compliance scheme.
